WHAT IS A HAVURAH… AND WHY SHOULD YOU BELONG?
The Temple Akiba congregation is a wonderful Jewish community offering rich resources for individuals and families. However, many experiences and activities are more rewarding in a smaller group. A Havurah is a group of Jewish people or families who choose to meet together to enhance their Jewish experience in a smaller group setting. Many Havurot have been formed to meet the needs of their members. Some of these groups have been together for decades and have seen their children grow up together. They celebrate happy times together and provide support to one another in less happy times.

The Havurah groups at Temple Akiba provide a wonderful shared Jewish experience for everyone who participates. Each Havurah comes together to socialize, learn and enjoy Jewish activities as a group. Some Havurah groups celebrate Jewish holidays together, eat together, study together, see shows and movies together… but most importantly the Havurot offer camaraderie and mutual support in good times or when you face challenges. Lifelong friendships often develop as a result of participation in a Havurah.
