Temple Akiba Literature Series - Jack Hirschberg, Ph. D. (in Literature) will host a monthly discussion group focusing on major novels by Jewish authors.  The group will meet from 7:30pm to 9:30 pm on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Upcoming topics are:

Tuesday, May 20 -  The Gathering by Anne Enright. Along with Alice McDermott, Anne Enright has become one of Ireland's most sensitive and singular voices. Following in the glorious footsteps of Joyce and Yeats, the 'Irish' writer provides sensitivity in style and substance rarely found in other writers. Perhaps it is the earthy Irish soul which provides the foundation for such sensitive and evocative portraits.

Tuesday, June 17 -  Moon Tiger by Penelope Lively. Winner of Britian's highest literary award, the Booker Prize; Penelope Lively has written a delicate but powerful novel about memories of the past. Memories - some positive, others disheartening - are all part of a larger fabric of life in the turbulent world of her past. This is a novel one can find rewards in long after finishing the last sentence.

Cost per class is $7.50 or $25.00 for the series.  Click here for more information.

Cremation Garden - Temple Akiba has its own Cremation Garden.  For more information, please contact the Temple Akiba office.
