DO NOT STAND IDLY BY
Temple Akiba is proud to be a part of Jewish World Watch, a non-profit coalition of Southern California Synagogues dedicated to the mandate that we will never again stand idly by merely observing acts of inhumanity. Rather, we will educate and activate our community to rise up against such unspeakable acts. We will take responsibility for mobilizing the community and for helping to care for the victims of inhuman abuses.

GOING GREEN - RECYCLING - AND MORE...
Did you know that since Temple Akiba started its recycling program in 2005, 75% of all waste is recycled here at Temple! That's right, at Temple Akiba, keeping a watchful eye on how we affect the Earth is important to us. Thanks to our great partnership with the Culver City Public Works/Sanitation Division, we recycle all aluminum, paper, cardboard, plastic and glass products.

All year round, the Front Office also helps you recycle all your printer ink cartridges and cell phones! The drop off box is located in the Green box in the Front Office. We'll take care of the rest. This is also a great fundraiser for us and helps reduce landfill use. Temple Akiba also donates food and toiletries all year long to Jewish Family Service’s SOVA Food Pantries. We have a drop off bin located in our lobby for your convenience. Help those less fortunate than us!

We also support and partner with Jewish Big Brothers, Big Sisters.

TEMPLE AKIBA'S ANNUAL MITZVAH DAY
Every year, all arms of the Temple (Religious and Nursery School, Sisterhood, etc.) come together for one magnificent day, MITZVAH DAY! It is a day of mitzvot, a day of helping, a day of giving, a day of healing and a day of repairing whatever needs to be fixed! Whether its planting trees, cleaning the beaches, singing at the senior center, feeding the homeless or painting over graffiti, the entire Temple community joins their spirit with Culver City and its surrounding communities to create this sacred time.

HELP US FIGHT HUNGER IN LA
Temple Akiba partners with the Jewish Federation’s Fed Up with Hunger Campaign, MAZON, and SOVA-Jewish Family Service in response to the overwhelming impact of the economic crisis on the vulnerable in Los Angeles. Our vision is to engage, galvanize and empower the Jewish community and the larger community in a city-wide movement to eradicate hunger in Los Angeles through advocacy, education, community engagement, volunteerism/social action and funding.

Please pick up the re-usable bags from our lobby to be used for our SOVA food drive for those less fortunate. Get involved! For more information go to www.GiveLifeMeaning.org.
