A BEACON OF LIGHT IN CULVER CITY
Welcome to Temple Akiba, located in beautiful Culver City, California! We are a reform congregation with over 320 member families. We have been a Jewish presence in Culver City since 1952. Temple Akiba prides itself on its diverse membership, warm and loving congregation and varied programming.

Our rabbi, Zachary R. Shapiro, embraces the congregation and the community with open arms. Through his leadership and passion we have moved into the 21st century with ever expanding programs, musical services, world re-known lecturers and exceptional social and family events.

HISTORY OF TEMPLE AKIBA
Temple Akiba was founded in 1952 by 4 families who felt a need for a reform Jewish congregation in West Los Angeles. Our current facility was completed in 1965. In 1978 Temple Jeremiah of Westchester merged with Temple Akiba. We are excited to introduce our Spiritual leader, Rabbi Zachary R. Shapiro, who came to Temple Akiba in July, 2006.

GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
Donations to our congregation can be envisioned through various means and help strengthen our Temple and its wonderful programs and activities.

SHABBAT SERVICES
Please join us for Shabbat services on Friday evenings, which usually begin at 7:30pm.

Our wonderful Family service with Birthday & Anniversary blessings is usually on the first Friday of the month at 7pm.

Our famous Kabbalat Shabbat service is filled with guitars, drums, a dobro, a giant harp, music and soul. This monthly "Shabbat in the round" begins at 7:30pm. We also provide babysitting for those families with young children who would still like to come to this service.

During July and August, all services will be held at 7pm.

For a full listing of ALL of our Shabbat services, visit our Online Temple Calendar of Events..
