Akiba Day Camp is a Culver City based summer program for children entering kindergarten through 10th grade.
Since 1967, Temple Akiba Day Camp has provided activities that kids enjoy most and uses them to encourage personal accomplishment and group cooperation.
Whether it’s swimming, arts and crafts, or playing a new sport, by interacting with their peers, campers learn the importance of participating with others and building successful relationships.
They also have the opportunity to grow their Jewish identity with special Shabbat programming on Fridays.
We support and celebrate each camper’s abilities and encourage our campers to be active, proud, courageous, responsible and cooperative. We also understand that these goals are best accomplished in a friendly, safe, comfortable and clean environment.

At Akiba Day Camp, we celebrate each child's unique abilities and encourage them to be active, proud, courageous, responsible, and cooperative. We believe these values thrive best in an environment that is friendly, safe, and supportive.
Akiba Day Camp is split into three main groups: Unit 1 (aged 5-7), Unit 2 (ages 8-10) and Teen Camp (ages 11-13). Unit 1 and Unit 2 campers participate in arts and crafts, music, swimming sports, field trips and they have targeted programming which is age appropriate.

Split into two groups: K'Far Noar and Avodah. K'Far Noar campers participate in sports, music, swimming, field trips, as well as an extra field trip which builds teamwork. leadership and often boosts confidence. They will also take part in specific programming which is age appropriate for 11 - 12 years of age.
Avodah takes what the participants did in K'Far Noar and builds on those activities. They take part in sports, music, swimming, the whole camp field trip, the confidence building field trips and they also will go on an additional field trip which is more of a fun activity where they bond with their peers.
Wednesdays offer an entirely new chance for fun with a well supervised field trip!
Fridays offer a special opportunity to connect with Jewish traditions through enriching Shabbat programming, helping campers strengthen their Jewish identity in a fun, inclusive setting.

1st year CITs (entering 9th grade) will spend time learning what it takes to be a counselor by being with groups in the morning. They will also have time to perfect their craft by learning improv, leadership, and problem solving. The campers will also go on the Teen Camp Field trip to further their confidence through fun activities.
2nd year CITS (entering 10th grade) will build on skills they learned in year one. They will be with the campers every morning (except field trip days) and then in the afternoon they will learn how to effectively write programming, develop activities, all the while sharpening their skillset of problem solving and leadership

Our program enables deep connections with Jewish peers in each Unit and provides opportunities to bond with everyone who attends Camp at any age! Our activities are immersive, creative and story based. Our counselors spend the summer before camp getting inspiration from Jewish history and values, music, TV, movies, pop-culture, social media and more to bring crazy characters to life and enhance every child's imagination.
Campers can also look forward to archery, zip-lining, animal sanctuary observation and hands on furry friend experiences, two themed dances, one overnight where we sleep under the stars, chugim/choice activities, several s'more roasting opportunities, camper-led Shabbat services and a talent show! All of our activities are informed by our strong set of values that include Judaism, connection, inclusion, creativity, community, personal developmental, spirit ruach, teamwork, service, and responsibility.

All of our staff members have either grown up as campers at Camp Akiba or have been counselors at another trusted Reform Jewish camp. Camp Akiba has a two-year counselor training program that gradually teaches teens to develop programming skills, an understanding of child development, time management and self-care, energy pacing, effective communication skills, and additional tools needed for supervising and caring for children in a camp environment. After the two-year program, teens are eligible to apply to be counselors which, if chosen requires a summer long commitment of additional training & programming. All counselors are also required to go through a background check, be CPR/AED certified and participate in mandated reporter, sexual harassment prevention training, and workplace violence training.
Every summer, we provide a safe, inclusive and immersive Jewish camping experience that fosters connection, personal growth and imagination. Our goal is that each camper feels more connected to Judaism and their Jewish peers through interactive programming guided by well trained and welcoming staff. Our program quickly immerses campers into our Akiba family and traditions through Reform Jewish rituals, song, dance, art, sports, drama, and nature.
