Temple Akiba Early Childhood Center (ECC) is a place where teachers, parents, children, and clergy join together to build a strong Jewish inspired community.
Our preschool environment is where all children, from all cultures and religious backgrounds, are welcome to be themselves, excite their curiosity, explore the many languages of the world around them and have the freedom to choose their areas of their interest from a variety of thought provoking activities.
Our Approach
ECC's educational approach weaves together most recent child development theories, focusing especially on a play-based curriculum. Our main emphasis is to allow children to explore and develop their emotional, physical, cognitive, and social qualities through developmentally appropriate play and exploration.
Our Focus
Starting from the age of eighteen months and transitioning through the age of five, we focus on developing healthy habits, promote appropriate social skills, close friendship, communication and language skills, self expression, positive self esteem, physical growth (fine and gross motor skills) and respect of one another.

Our Classes
-
The Toddler Program is designed to supplement the loving and nurturing of the family. Teachers encourage positive social interactions through plav. The children participate in art, music, indoor and outdoor play, and a variety of sensory experiences. The supportive atmosphere allows toddlers to grow and develop independence in a safe and secure environment.
-
The Twos are often when children experience their first school separation from parents. Understanding this, we provide a warm environment that encourages children to take pride in their accomplishments, move toward independence, and work together to explore their world and improve their skills. Focus is given to on learning how to socialize and play with others and conflict resolution in addition to physical activity and strengthening motor skills.
-
Three-year-olds continue their emotional, social, and academic growth as they master basic skills in a developmentally appropriate play-focused atmosphere.
At this level, the curriculum for our engaged learners explores the calendar, listening to and sharing stories, and introduction to counting and patterns. Threes also focus on creative representation, classification, sorting, and understanding of time and space.
-
Our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program is designed for children from approximately four to five years of age. TK is a year in which students can develop both academic and social skills as they prepare for kindergarten. Students in TK will be exposed to engaging experiences and individual support as they develop their cognitive, emotional, and physical skills. A classroom filled with hands-on play-based activities in addition to academic learning will help children build a strong foundation for becoming lifelong learners and long-term academic success. You can reach us anytime via our contact page or email. We aim to respond quickly—usually within one business day.

Parent Testimonials
“We so appreciated how the teachers adapt the curriculum to our child's interests. It's very helpful that he now sees school as a place to explore his interests.” - Avi F.
“Our daughter is always excited to see her teachers at drop off. It's amazing to know she trusts them so completely, running to their arms when we drop her off, and taking comfort in their hugs during the tough moments.
We love how they allow the kids' interests to guide their learning, and how they can carry a theme (like the holidays, or pumpkins!) through so many immersive and enriching activities. They do such a great job at teaching our kids the fundamentals.”
- Jared G.
“We are grateful to Temple Akiba ECC for preparing our daughters well for kindergarten. These formative years are so important. That is the foundation to grow into caring, compassionate, and productive young citizens.”
- Jana C.
