Ukrainian Family Sponsorship

Temple Akiba Welcomes the Bogancha family

Temple Akiba and Adat Shalom synagogue are working together to bring this family from the Ukraine to Los Angeles. The Bogancha family were living in Kharkiv, Ukraine when Russia attacked in February of 2022. They then fled by car to Austria leaving behind their home and possessions. Andrey, the father is a lawyer and Marina, the mother is a piano teacher. They have a teenage daughter. Their son has recently arrived in LA through a scholarship to a local college.

The Bogancha family has an excellent reputation in their hometown for being kind and generous. In fact, Andrey’s grandparents were honored by Israel as “righteous of the Nations” for hiding two Jewish girls during the Nazi occupation of Ukraine.

We need your help to fulfill the commandment of “welcoming the stranger”

On June 1, the Boganchas arrived at LAX!! It was an exciting and emotional moment for everyone involved. Andreii, his wife Marina and daughter Mylana were greeted by Temple Akiba and Adat Shalom members, and by their 18 year old son Alex, a student here at Santa Monica College.
