Throughout the world, Jews traditionally take time to remember their departed loved ones during the High Holy Days. At Temple Akiba, we embrace this tradition by preparing an annual Yizkor Book of Remembrance. This booklet includes special prayers and meditations to help those who are bereaved and to use when observing a yahrzeit. Names are listed in alphabetical order by family.

Each year, we invite our congregants to submit the names of their departed loved ones for inclusion in our annual Book of Remembrance. It is customary to honor their memories with tzedakah (a charitable donation), which is traditionally given in a multiple of $18, which is symbolic of chai (life).
